You order a pod and they will come and drop it off at your house. You have an extended amount of time to pack up everything you would like, in most cases up to 30 days. The companies offer storage space in their building if you can not have it dropped off in front of your new home immediately. The storage pods are cheaper as well as more convenient than a conventional moving truck as you do not have to do it in only a few days. Most storage pod companies will just charge you a flat rate in the neighborhood of $200 rather than charge you per day.
