Now a days the sight of a semi cylindrical metallic structure which are very light in weight in and around city area is a very common sight which are known as Quonset huts. To add strength and resistance from getting corroded the sheet of iron or of any iron based alloy is galvanized with a relatively resistant metal like Zinc or Tin and is bent in a shape of a semi circle. This ground breaking merchandise was first erected in a place called Quonset Point in Davisville, a village in Rhode Island. This explains the name of Quonset huts.
